A fun background building technique using the versatile Multi-Tag die set from Tonic Studios free with issue 18 of Die-Cutting Essentials :D I used quite a few other Tonic products on these cards too, including Embellishment Mousse (Aquamarine), Pure Sheen Glitter (Diamond), Glitter Drops (Silver Moondust) and their Sent With Love sentiment die :D
For the backgrounds for these two cards I started with a tonne of die-cutting, I cut nine of the tags from white card, and I used the lovely smaller filigree one along with the small tag outline so that it would create frames :D I also used the 'waste' interior tags to cut some Sue Wilson snowflakes and part of the Spellbinders Peace Sentiment die too to add in as decorative pieces :D I used two A6 pieces of Aqua Foundations card for my backgrounds, and I covered them both entirely with double sided adhesive sheets :D I then placed on all my white die-cuts and used the backing paper to make sure they were pressed down firmly :D To cover the rest of the exposed adhesive I decided to add glitter (but alternatively you could use gilding flakes, micro-beads, or even a coloured glitter if you prefer :D) and I used the Diamond Pure Sheen glitter from Tonic (I LOVE this, I have used it quite a few times over the last month or so lol) :D
Once the background was created, I moved onto the focal elements, I used one of the Heirloom reflections bauble dies from Spellbinders along with the triangle outline from the Banner set in their Celebrations range :D From the bauble, I also cut out a snowflake (again this is a Sue Wilson one) and I cut a tiny one from the same set as the star for the top of my tree too :D The Holly die is also from Spellbinders, I think its called Peppermint Stick, I cut these from Pale Grey Foundations card, and to make the veins stand out more, I traced over them with a Silver gel pen :D I love the 'Sent With Love' sentiment die from Tonic Studios, but I wanted to make it more Christmassy so I could use it on these cards, sooo... I used some nice sharp scissors to carefully snip off the 'Sent With' part of it just to leave the GORGEOUS scripty 'Love' and then I added in a stamped 'Christmas' (using Flannel Grey Memento ink) to complete it :D I also did some extra die-cutting of some of the same shapes from some Pale Grey Foundations card to add as shadows behind some of the elements such as the tree, bauble and the scripty love too :D Behind the sentiment and under the tree I also added some accents of the Sliver foiled snowflake vellum from Crafters Companion :D And for the final finishing touches I used some metallic silver thread and also some pre-made Silver Moondust #nuvo glitter drops :D Hope you liked the cards :D
