Wishing You a Wonderful Birthday :D

A more unusual looking Birthday card today using the gorgeous Birds of a Feather free gift from Simply Cards and Papercraft issue 158 along with some of the smaller interior dies from a Sue Wilson #creativeexpressions die set :D The die set I've used is actually a Christmas one called Holly Octagonal Frame in the Sue Wilson Festive Collection by Creative Expressions, it's such a versatile set (and as you can see form this card, doesn't have to only be used on a Christmas card!!) and for this card I've used the three smallest octagonal elements :D :D

For the colourful background, I used some pink and purple colourburst powders along with some Rich Gold Pixie Powder (from Creative Expressions) and I even splashed in some Clear Sparkle pen while the inks were still wet too :D I used the same powder colours to colour in my main focal image along with a green colourburst powder too, and I created the brown tone by mixing the pink and green together, and adding a touch of gold to give that mica finish :D Then I added some splashes of the gold Pixie Powder watered down over the image too :D So that all of the lovely background wasn't being covered up, I decided to use the small interior octagon die in three places to create an aperture, but as the focal image came out more pastel I wanted to mute this down, so I used the free embossing folder with some vellum so that I could give the apertures a diffused effect :D My final finishing touch was then the addition of some Tonic Studios Nuvo Glitter Drops, I think the colour is White Blizzard, I like to make a few of these drops in the different colours I have (not too many just enough for a few projects) ahead of time, then I let them dry and store them in a little pot, this way they're there when I need them, it's so handy to have them ready made :D Hope you liked this more unusual looking card :D :D
