Showering You With Thanks :D

A thank you card for my parents for my Christmas prezzies using the jam packed Whatever the Weather stamp set free with issue 38 of Creative Stamping :D Love this stamp set, it's so versatile :D And I coloured the little girl to look like my mum when she was little, and she loved it!! :D :D I decided to try something different for the background, so I used the Hero Arts Mint Julep to Emerald Green Ombre ink pad (Love this colour combo!!) (They're still reduced on CraftStash at the moment too in their Winter Sale!! I got the Red one for Christmas, then saw they were reduced and brought four more different colours lol :D) and I swiped it multiple times across the card, rotating it around so that the same colours were together to give this cool brushed effect :D I then used the tiny heart stamps from the free stamp set and used the ombre ink pad to stamp them emerging from the brushed stripes :D I really like the way this turned out!! There'll be another card later this week using this technique again, and I must remember it for the future too!! :D

To add some white to the background to break up the turquoise colour, I decided to use the largest three dies from the Sue Wilson Festive Collection Bold Snowflake Frame die set (I got this at my local craft shop (well garden centre) the other day, it was half price!! such a bargain, because as I've proved here, its a Christmas set, but it needn't be used on a Christmas card :D Love it!! :D For the sentiment I combined the 'Showering you with' from the Whatever the Weather stamp set with the Altenew Calligraphy Alpha stamp set to create 'Showering you with Thanks' I really love these Calli letters (I might have gotten these in CraftStash's winter sale too :D :D) They're perfect because they fit together so well, what you see me stamping in the video below is the first time I'd used them, and even on my practice sticky note it was so easy to get them all joined together :D

For the gorgeous little girl, I used the Hampton Arts Stamp Perfect Stamp Positioning tool (which Hampton Arts were kind enough to send me to try out in my videos, and its fab!! :D Love the colour too!! :D) I firstly stamped the umbrella (not inking up the curved handle as I knew this would be hidden by the little girls hand) then I created a mask and protected this stamped image :D I then stamped the little girl over the top, and voila, she's holding the umbrella :D And I did use my Memento Tuxedo Black for the stamping as there's a lot of details in this stamp which would be difficult to avoid when colouring with Promarkers, so I thought I better not risk using the Versafine Onyx black ink as I usually do lol :D So I used my Promarkers and a few Tonic Studio pens to colour in the image, and I added some spots to the umbrella to tie in with the wellies, and used a fine black pen to give some of them definition too :D I also created a reverse mask (like I did for my feature on page 14 in this issue of the Creative Stamping Magazine!!) to protect everywhere other than the rain coat, and then I used the tiny heart stamp and the ombre ink pad to add a subtle pattern :D Hope you liked the card :D I really love how it turned out :D
