Without the Rain :D

A pair of colourful rainbow cards created around a sentiment from the Summer in the Garden stamp set which came with issue 32 of Creative Stamping... Without the Rain there'd be no Rainbows :D I had this idea while I was away on holiday, and I just had to try it!!

I started by die-cutting a rainbow out of funky foam (this is a Paper Smooches rainbow die) and I used this as a custom stamp to create the watercoloured rainbow effect :D TOP TIP: When running funky foam through your die-cutting machine, you only want to pass it through once, this is becuase the foam is squishy and it will move around so won't cut in the exact same place twice!! To help get the arch of the rainbows as near to perfect as possible, lay them down one by one over the appropriate place in the die, and then pick up your 'stamp' with your acrylic block.... I decided to use Distress Inks to stamp the arches of my rainbow because I wanted a watercoloury effect and I knew that they'd work really well! I used Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon and Wilted Violet :D Once I'd stamped all the arches of my rainbow, I used a wide flat paint brush (3/4 inch) which I had dipped in some water, and I dragged this across the rainbow to blend the colours (and any places where the stamping wasn't quite perfect, I just squished some of that colour onto my glass cutting mat and used the brush to pick it up and add it in :D) I created a drippy effect to the left hand side (you can see how I was trying to create this in my video below) this was how I was picturing it in my head, a lovely watery rainbow that was dripping on one side and surrounding the sentiment :D

I also cut some rain drops from some funky foam too (this die was from the Spring Showers Lawn Fawn die set) and I stamped these in coordinating colours in the drippy part of the rainbow :D I then wanted to add some sparkle, so I used my Clear Sparkle pen (this will reactivate the distress ink, so you'll need to wipe your brush on some scrap paper between colours). I stamped the sentiment in black ink (this stamps amazingly well!!!) and so I thought the card needed a little more black, hence the black raindrops :D The final finishing touches were some sequins, I left in how much I was faffing with the placement, because I thought it was funny lol, and this is 8 times speed too, so you can see it took me quite a while to decide lol :D Hope you like the card :D
